One on one photography courses

Whether you are a beginner, new to
digital photography or are an advancing amateur, you will benefit from
private course from one of our professionals. All you need is a digital
camera (point and shoot or DSLR) and the desire to learn
the art of photography. Topics covered in these one on one photography
courses are practical (with just the
right amount of theory...). Will be tailored to your individual needs.
The course may include:
- Getting the most out of your digital camera.
- Composition and framing.
- Portrait Photography.
- Landscapes.
- Using available light.
- On camera flash.
- Night photography.
- Working with various image file formats.
- The digital darkroom.
- Using Photoshop and other image editing software.
- Resizing photos.
- Aspect ratios and printing.
This is an outline of a typical photography course. Topics can be added or
substituted, depending on your current skills and
the direction you would like to take with your photography. These
courses are also ideal for a family group or friends. The lessons are
available in Sydney CBD, eastern suburbs, lower north shore and inner
western suburbs.
We can either come to you, meet at a location or plan a field trip if
your preference is for landscape.

$100 for one hour of private lessons for one person (minimum for
individual course is 2 hours if we come to you, or one hour if you come
to us).

These Sydney workshops are best suited to the advancing photographer with a DSLR camera who would
like to take the next step towards
becoming a professional.
Course Topics:
- Settings on a DSLR camera.
- Choosing the correct lens for the job.
- Aperture and shutter speed settings.
- Depth of field.
- Available light and on camera flash.
- Using reflectors.
- Framing the shot and in-camera composition.
- People and portraits.
- Creative shots.
- Portrait and candid shots.
- Spectacular landscapes.
- Using lines, angles and texture.
- Shooting under difficult lighting conditions.
- Photoshop post processing (assumed knowledge of basic Photoshop
operation).
Course Outline:
The course is held on the third Saturday of each month at The Rocks.
09:00 Meet and greet.
09:15 Controls of the DSLR camera.
09:45 Capturing the texture of wood and sandstone.
10:30 Creative landscape photography using framing and depth of field.
11:15 Candid shots of passers and vehicles. Introduction to blurring the
background using camera motion.
12:00 Lunch (bring your own light lunch) and evaluation of photos.
13:00 Lighting for portraits.
14:00 Post processing of photos. Laptop and Photoshop will be provided.
15:00 Handing out of certificate of completion and farewell.
Course Outcomes:
This course or workshop will give you an insight into professional photography.
You will acquire sufficient skills to enable you to enter landscape and
creative photos into competitions and exhibitions. You will also be able
to take social photos at a professional level.
Group size:
Between 5 and 10 per course.

$270 per person including GST.

Next DSLR photography course commences: August. Can be taken as a private course

Photoshop Workshops and private lessons (including portrait
professional course)

This course can be taken
either as a group workshop (subject to place availability) or as private
lessons. The syllabus contains everything a landscape or social
photographer needs to know to get the best results out of their digital
photography. This course is suitable for beginner to intermediate
candidates.
Some of the course topics covered include:
- Opening, saving and resizing JPEG images.
- Variable and fixed ratio image cropping.
- Auto contrast, colour and tone functions.
- Burning, Dodging and sponge tools.
- Magic wand and other selection tools.
- Creating and working with layers.
- Adding masks and vignettes and other special function effects.
- Converting colour photos to black and white and other tints.
- Photoshop filters - Sharpening and blurring photos.
- Introduction to Photoshop plug-ins.
- Using Portrait Professional software.
- Saving in different formats including Bitmap and TIFF.
- Adjusting images and preparing them for printing.
We will only be offering private one on one tuition for the Photoshop
course in 2011. We found from past experience that clients are at
different levels of knowledge, therefore best results are achieved with
individual lessons as opposed to group workshops. Beginners are welcome

$100 per one hour session. The entire course can be covered in 4 one
hour lessons.

Camcorder individual course
|
This private video course is designed for beginner to
intermediate camcorder users. It will take your family movies to a new
level using the same
techniques directors employ in film and television productions.
- Basic controls of a video camera.
- Video terminology & overview.
- Video camera setup.
- Handling the camcorder.
- Auto and manual White Balance.
- Automatic versus manual settings.
- Exposure and shutter speed.
- Angles, wide angle shots, close-ups, head shots.
- Lighting setup - natural versus artificial lighting.
- Internal and external microphones.
- Zooming and framing.
- Camera movement and using tripods.
- Depth of field.
- Cinematography techniques.
- Neutral density filters.
- Non linear editing. We use Pinnacle software which is easy to learn.
- Adding sound files.
- Burning to DVD and publishing on the internet.
Any or all these modules can be included in the videography course. About 3 topics
can be covered in one hour. The hourly rate is $100. You can either come
to us in Bronte or we will come to you - We cover the northern beaches,
western and eastern suburbs. |
